heat

We live in Florida and Florida is a hot place. Before I get into a long rant about my hometown I want to preface this and say that I like living in Florida—it’s my home. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything I would change.

During the summer months, the heat is almost unbearable and truly the only thing that gets us through these long, blistering months is the hope of winter. Oddly enough, the hot summer months is also the rainy season. Meaning, if it’s not hot, it’s drizzling warm water on your head.

The fall and winter months of Florida are actually quite nice and although I’d LOVE a litttttttle bit more cold weather and maybe some, you know, snow, we do get some nice cold fronts. And remember, we can appreciate even a 70° day after a high 90° summer …

One redeeming quality that Florida has is how wet the air is. Now this can be a bad thing or a good thing. When it’s hot, you just feel damp and sticky all the time. But when the cool weather hits and the breezes start blowing, suddenly life doesn’t seem all that bad. I think my biggest takeaway from living and sweating in Florida is to just be happy in whatever weather you’re given. We can’t control the weather so why spend all day whining and complaining about it? (Looking back that’s basically what I did in this post. I’m not a hypocrite I promise!)

So go outside and enjoy whatever weather you currently have—unless, you know, it’s a tornado.
