the best hype songs

You’re on the bench with a PR (personal record) on the bar above you. Your palms are sweating. You grip the bar as tight as you can. You unrack the bar, heaving the weight above you. You bring the weight down to your chest but … you can’t lift it back up. Suddenly your favorite song blasts. Power surges to your muscles and it seems as if the weight just flies up.

Although this is a slight exaggeration, a good song can make a life or death difference in the gym (basically). But if you listen to jams at the wrong time, can this lead to a crash in energy???

I like to listen to active music when I’m working out, as most people do, but not always full on hype that will shatter your speakers and blow up your subwoofers. Sometimes I’ll vibe to some chill rock or pop music during a more laid back workout. But, I have found, when it’s PR time, you need to bring out the big guns, that one song that makes you feel invincible. If you don’t really have one, here are a few of my favorites to get you started.

-Best song before a workout to get you hyped: “Elevate” by DJ Khalil

– Best song to pump you up for a great set: “Machine” by Imagine Dragons

– Best song to make any PR, no matter how hard: “Legend” by Tevvez (an ABSOLUTE classic that every gym goer knows)

– Best song after you finish your workout: “One Hundred” by NF

– Best song when you feel like quitting: “No Excuses” by NF

There are a lot of songs I like to listen to while I’m working out. Maybe I’ll write another post someday and give you guys my actual Spotify playlists, but for now here’s some motivation to get you pumping!

P.S. All the songs I recommended here are clean, but I can’t say that about every song by some of the artists. Just a heads up!
