I’m a homeschool kid through and through. I’ve been doing my schoolwork at home since the beginning, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I get to work at my own pace, I get to be in my own home, and I get more free time to do things that I enjoy doing like coding, drawing, and working out.
Really quick, though, as a little disclaimer, I don’t think homeschooling is for everyone. Also I would have never have been able to homeschool if both my parents had to work. The numerous Bible studies, PE programs, and co-ops I’ve been a part of gave me a social life without constant school interaction.
Everyday I wake up around 8am and flop downstairs to start my day. I usually start by reading my Bible—I’m on track to finish the entire Bible in a year, so that’s nice—before starting my school day. Normally I will math first followed by a few other subjects before…
Breakfast! I love breakfast. If I had to go to school I would have to chow down something quick before leaving early in the morning OR eat something gross at school. Instead I’ll fry up a couple eggs and make a protein shake.
Just because I’m homeschooled doesn’t mean I don’t work hard, even though I think a lot of people think that. It is easier in a way, but that’s mainly due to the better environment not the work itself. Actually, I think homeschool kids usually end up being smarter! (Not me, lol, I mean OTHER homeschooled kids …)
When I was younger I was always a really shy person, but slowly that stopped being the case. Now I’m a rather outgoing person that can make friends pretty much anywhere. Most of my friends I made when I was young, and we’ve been together ever since. But recently I fell into a new friend group that merged with the old one and that has been nice.
My favorite part of being homeschooled is being able to be in the comfort of my own home with my family. Oh, and did I mention that my mom is my teacher? That’s always been nice. If I have a question about math I don’t have to walk up to the teacher’s desk and cower in the face of authority to answer my question. I can just ask one of my parents (and hope they know).
